My husband and I found out we were expecting our second baby in January, just 9 months after our first baby girl had been born!

At 20 weeks we had an ultrasound done to find out we were expecting another little girl due in September 2020. Everything checked out to be perfectly fine during the ultrasound and in my previous pregnancy I carried to 40 weeks, so we weren’t expecting anything different to happen.

On May 13th I was at home and noticed what felt like a balloon protruding. Knowing something was wrong I rushed in to see my OB. From there she realized things were very critical and since the baby was only 23 weeks along the hospital was not equipped to deliver a micro premie.

We would need to be transported to Children’s Hospital in the cities. I was diagnosed with placenta abruption and an incompetent cervix. Two things that make for future pregnancy complications. I had an emergency c section and lost over 3 liters of blood.

My husband was out of town for work so he missed our daughters birth. Our baby girl was delivered weighing 1 pound, 4 ounces. It was a miracle both her and I made it to the hospital safely and survived.

She was absolutely beautiful and perfect in every way. We named her and spent the next ten days together before she went to be with Jesus.

Due to covid restrictions, our families were not allowed to be present for the birth or death of our baby girl.

That added an additional element of grief not being able to share her life or be supported the way we needed. Our oldest daughter didn’t get to meet her little sister and my heart hurts for what will never be. She was an answer to our prayers and now our family will always feel incomplete without her.

I’m so sorry for your loss! I read your story hoping for a different outcome as sadly I have a very similar story to tell. I was admitted to hopsital with severe pre-eclampsia and had to deliver our tiny baby girl at 24 weeks. She too managed to survive for 10 precious days. None of our family got to meet her due to Covid-19 restrictions which still makes me sad. She was perfect, just born too soon.
Never alone… Never forgotten xxx

I’m so so sorry for your loss!! My heart breaks to read your story. Your daughters short life in this world will be an eternal blessing for your family.
